It's been a long time...Catch up; 2009 edition.

Wow, I have been meaning to blog, I really have.  I have sat down to do it countless times.  Then I get caught up in....man, I am SOOO behind.  Do I want to spend the time to catch up, or should I just move forward.  Dilemma of dilemma, I know.  It is sad, here are a few really big things I missed in 2009...As soon as I get them off of my chest, I will feel like such a better blogger.  Cause that is what we all aspire to in life -- being the best dog-gone bloggers we can be.

August 16, 2009 - Hadley was blessed by Kyle in his parent's ward in Lindon, UT.  It was such a wonderful day and we were so lucky to have so many family member in attendance.  Hadley sure is a special addition to our family, I know there are many great things in store for her.

(Bedke Family - minus Mitch who is serving a mission in England)

(Christensen family - minus Keith who is the wonderful photographer)

August 20, 2009 - Kyle's beautiful sister Nicole married Chad in the Salt Lake City temple.

October 31, 2009 - Hadley was a BYU Cheerleader for her 1st Halloween.  (Thanks G&G Christensen for the costume!)

November 13, 2009 - Went to New Mexico to visit Keith and Natalie.  Bart, Karen, Nicole and Chad drove down and met us there too.  We went and visited Indian Ruins, toured Sante Fe, and most importantly went to the BYU/NM Football game.  I guess my camera was MIA on this trip, cause alls I got is a lovely sunrise that Kyle photographed.

November 25, 2009 - In an effort to use our season passes to Disneyland one last time before they expired, the three of us made a quick trip to ride Its a Small World (Christmas Style) and watch the Christmas parade.  Only season pass holders have the luxury of going to DL and the only ride they choose to ride is Its a Small World (a ride that Kyle has REFUSED to ride every other trip.) Hadley LOVED IT!

November 26, 2009 - We enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with members of our Fremont family. Highlights included: successfully cooking my very first turkey and Kyle researching how to carve his very first turkey.

December 10, 2009 - My lovely friend Lauren and I were able to be audience members on day seven of Ellen's twelve days of Christmas.  I (along with every other man, woman, and child in our ward) had been submitting my name for tickets faithfully in November and December in hopes of being selected to receive the coveted 12 days of giveaways tickets.  Somehow my name was picked and I was left with two stand-by tickets.  The two of us ventured to the WB studios at the wee hour of 4:30 AM and took our places as the 10th and 11th persons in line, the stand-by line that is.  At 8:00 a representative from the show took pity on us and gave us numbers holding our spots and released us with strict instructions to return later in the day.  After a little more waiting, then waiting, oh, and waiting, it was announced that   they had room for all of the standerbys!  Enough about the logistics.  Our prizes were: a video camera, a cell phone, an Ipod Touch, an I-home stereo, AND a TEMPURPEDIC bed (which we received last week, and it is heavenly!)

With that, my friends, I am spent.  I will continue my updating at a later time (maybe tomorrow, maybe next May).  But if I were you, I would definitely check back several times a day everyday until I do, cause believe me you won't want to miss it.  Look forward to a debut of the Christmas Card that never was, because the 50 I printed out aren't going to make it in the mail (I will stash them with the stack of wedding thank you notes that I also didn't mail out, oh and the 2007 Christmas cards.)

5 Months

5 Month Stats
Height: 26.5 in. - 95%
Weight - 16 lbs. 9 oz. - 80%
Head - 41 cm - 50%

Has it really been 5 months?  Some days it feels like 5 days, while other times it feels like 5 years!  As with every other set of parents, we think OUR baby is absolutely perfect!  She really is so much fun.  This past month she: *started rolling from her front to her back, but only occasionally...she still prefers her stomach
*started eating solids and LOVES them.  Any time you put the spoon in her line of sight, she dive bombs for it!
*smiles at everybody and everything EXCEPT she screams, screams, screams when being held by a guy
*LOVES tearing up things.  We get an obscene amount of magazines at our house so rather than just throwing them away I would let her tear them all apart. Each magazine kept her entertained for probably a half hour.  However, I have since decided that since I don't want her to destroy every paper that comes in her path, I should probably stop this fun activity.
*is still sleeping like a champ; however, we neglected to inform her of the time change...she had a few mornings where she was up bright and early!
*has the cutest pouty lip/face.  I really need to try and get a picture of it, it cracks me up.
*was the cutest little BYU cheerleader for halloween
*still loves bath time.  When we are draining the tub, we let her roll to her belly.  She loves splashing and kicking!
*she LOVES to scream! It isn't a mad or sad scream, but rather a scream to hear herself scream.
*she is very good at pulling her pacifier out, but really struggles putting it back in.  I feel like I am constantly helping her get it back it.
*loves sitting in the stroller facing forward! (versus snapping the car seat into the stroller which faces backwards)

Play Date

Easy: Going over to the next door neighbor's apartment (by next door, I mean 5 feet across the hall) for a baby play date.
Hard: Taking a group picture of all the said babies.

Meeting Minnie

This weekend we met up with some friends at Disneyland.  It was sooo much fun!  The highlight for me was riding the California Screamin roller coaster for my very 1st {and 2nd} time! (Every other time it hasn't worked out for me to ride, but let me tell you, it lived up to the hype!)  The highlight for Kyle was meeting Minnie Mouse!  The highlight for Hadley was getting to stay out until midnight!  We have learned all the tricks to getting on and off the rides as quickly as possible, so feel free to come and learn (just bring a child and a stroller, that helps tremendously!) We love being so close to so many fun things!

Dental wives take a trip to Huntington Gardens

Don't even think we weren't a spectacle {not pictures: 3 more strollers, 6 more kids}. That's how we roll around here. A couple of weeks ago a few of us (few being 6 moms) decided to go to lunch when it was too rainy to go to Disneyland. Among us there were 8 kids. At one point a man in the restaurant stood up and loudly started counting how many kids there were, and announcing things like what are they doing with so many kids in here. Oh it is fun being in the land where the norm is to have 1.3 kids beginning when you are in your mid-thirties.

Rice Cereal!

We decided to have Hadley try some rice cereal this morning.  I wouldn't say she LOVED it, but she didn't seem to mind it.  She definitely didn't swallow very much.

Cirque Du Soleil

*disclaimer. This post has NOTHING to do with Hadley

Last weekend the "fun committee" at my work took us all to Cirque Du Soleil. We saw Kooza, and it was A-Mazing! It was in a circus tent on the Santa Monica pier.  This was our first time seeing Cirque Du Soleil, and we both LOVED it!  This was also our first night on the town sans-Hadley.  We had our great friends watch her, so knowing that she was in good hands made it very easy to plunge into the world of babysitting.

Because I work from home, I was unable to get the tickets prior to the show so one of my co-workers had ours.   She was running late and we were early, so we stood outside the gate for almost an hour.  When 8:00 rolled around, she still wasn't there and the show was beginning.  A lady noticed us standing there and asked us if we had tickets. We told her we were waiting for them to come.  She just so happened to be in-charge of the VIP tent and offered us two tickets.  We got to sit in the very front, eat desserts with the VIPs at intermission, have our picture taken, and wear really cool lanyards.  Talk about being in the right place at the right time!

We really had a blast and highly recommend the show!
